Thinking about changing Cash BECM
15 PP/lvl vs 16 PP/lvl doesn't make a huge difference game balance-wise (for the Ärth setting, to which these BECMs are specific), but having an even-numbered BECM makes it easier to understand things for those with less arithmetical ability. For instance there's an exact half level to land on (you can't spend 7.5 PPs on Wealth), and even 1/4 and 3/4 level lands you on SQR(2) and 2*SQR(2) which may be less intimidating than the average decimal number. Also it makes the Ärth setting slightly less cash-poor, which I think is all right. Here are the multipliers for a BECM of 16: BECM 16 1 1.09 2 1.18 3 1.29 4 1.41 5 1.54 6 1.68 7 1.83 8 2 9 2.18 10 2.37 11 2.59 12 2.82 13 3.08 14 3.36 15 3.66 16 4
My thinking is that the average person creating a character is going to have to interact with Wealth Levels, whereas only few players will interact with the other BECM values (such as Food/Monetary Income and Units) during character creation, so it makes some sense to try to go for even-numbered BECMs for Budget and Cash (and if they're also divisible by 4 that's even nicer), whereas the other BECMs, being more exotic, can be odd numbers without problems. --Peter Knutsen (the Designer) 18:15, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
Multipliers for more than 7 and more than 12 Wealth Levels
Here are the two lists for BECM 12 and 16 again, but now also with the multipliers to use for high Levels of Wealth: BECM 12 1 1.12 1.09 1.05 2 1.25 1.2 1.12 3 1.41 1.31 1.18 4 1.58 1.44 1.25 5 1.78 1.58 1.33 6 2 1.73 1.41 7 2.24 1.89 1.49 8 2.51 2.08 1.58 9 2.82 2.27 1.68 10 3.17 2.49 1.78 11 3.56 2.73 1.88 12 4 3 2
and
BECM 16 1 1.09 1.07 1.04 2 1.18 1.14 1.09 3 1.29 1.22 1.13 4 1.41 1.31 1.18 5 1.54 1.4 1.24 6 1.68 1.5 1.29 7 1.83 1.61 1.35 8 2 1.73 1.41 9 2.18 1.85 1.47 10 2.37 1.98 1.54 11 2.59 2.12 1.61 12 2.82 2.27 1.68 13 3.08 2.44 1.75 14 3.36 2.61 1.83 15 3.66 2.8 1.91 16 4 3 2
Including this in the article text is not a priority. Everything is going to be done by spreadsheet anyway. --Peter Knutsen (the Designer) 18:18, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
Equipment Budget, whole Wealth Levels
This shows the total Equipment Budget for integer values of Wealth Levels up to the 21th Level (18 Levels bought on top of the free/native/base/BEL 3): 0 3 120 12 4 480 24 5 1'920 36 6 7'680 48 7 30'720 60 8 122'880 72 9 491'520 84 10 1'474'560 96 11 4'423'680 108 12 13'271'040 120 13 39'813'120 132 14 119'439'360 144 15 358'318'080 156 16 716'636'160 168 17 1'433'272'320 180 18 2'866'544'640 192 19 5'733'089'280 204 20 11'466'178'560 216 21 22'932'357'120
The correct multipliers are used. After 10 it's x3 and after 15 it's x2. --Peter Knutsen (the Designer) 18:23, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
Cash, whole Wealth Levels
As above, here's a table for Cash, going up to the 21st Level: 0 3 40 16 4 160 32 5 640 48 6 2'560 64 7 10'240 80 8 40'960 96 9 163'840 112 10 491'520 128 11 1'474'560 144 12 4'423'680 160 13 13'271'040 176 14 39'813'120 192 15 119'439'360 208 16 238'878'720 224 17 477'757'440 240 18 955'514'880 256 19 1'911'029'760 272 20 3'822'059'520 288 21 7'644'119'040
As before, the correct multipliers are used (and BECM 16); remember that the first three levels of Wealth are free. --Peter Knutsen (the Designer) 18:27, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
